This Privacy Policy explains how Talanui Studios, LLC ("Talanui Studios," "we," "us") collects and handles personal information when you visit talanui.com (the "Site"). This page is maintained by Talanui Studios and describes our current practices only.
1. Who we are
Talanui Studios, LLC is the data controller for personal information collected through the Site. For any privacy question or request, contact us at hello@talanui.com.
2. What we collect
- Email you send us. If you email hello@talanui.com, we receive your address and the message.
- Newsletter signups. When you subscribe to our Drift Beacon newsletter, you submit your email address directly to our newsletter provider, Substack Inc. Talanui Studios does not store your address on its own servers; Substack processes it under Substack's Privacy Policy.
- Technical data. Our hosting provider automatically processes standard request data (IP address, user agent, timestamp) for security and to deliver the Site. We do not use this data for advertising or profiling.
The Site does not currently use analytics, advertising pixels, or third-party trackers beyond the embeds listed in our Cookie Policy.
3. Why we use it
- To respond to messages you send us.
- To deliver the newsletter you subscribed to (via Substack).
- To keep the Site secure and operational.
4. Legal bases (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR / UK GDPR:
- Consent — for newsletter subscription and non-essential cookies.
- Legitimate interests — for site security and responding to your inquiries.
5. Sharing
We share personal information only with the service providers required to operate the Site:
- Substack Inc. — newsletter delivery.
- Lovable / Cloudflare — website hosting and delivery.
- Google Fonts — web font delivery.
We do not sell or rent personal information.
6. International transfers
Our service providers are based primarily in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA or UK, transfers rely on the providers' Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
7. Retention
Emails you send us are retained only as long as needed to respond and keep a reasonable record of our correspondence. Newsletter data is retained by Substack until you unsubscribe.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know and delete. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@talanui.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
9. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version.
